Work to Be Worthy of His Miracles -- November 7, 2016

Well this week has been slowly getting colder and colder. But the miracles keep coming every day and that's what matters most. I am so thankful to be serving in a way that I can see those miracles. I have determined that my new Mission Motto will be "WORK to be WORTHY of His MIRACLES" I have seen so many miracles and I know when we do what we're supposed to, we will receive and see more.

So anyways, this week. It was crazy. But great. Monday was Halloween and so we had to be in at 6. Which P-Day ends at six...we were surprised our P-Day wasn't cut short...but we had a proper day off. CRAZY!!! We were assigned to deep clean the flat though, so we worked on that whole pizza was cooking and then had a delightful meal of pizza and Schloer (which is the English equivalent of sparkling cider) to celebrate. We got a new App on our iPad which is the Area Book Planner App. And if you can't guess...its our area book and planners now on our iPad. So we spent some time putting records into the app and then caught up on some letters and journaling. So it was quite a nice evening!

Tuesday we got back to work. We went to a lot of Formers houses and none of them were interested in learning again...so that was frustrating. But we came in for lunch and then went out to work some more. We knocked and knocked with no takers and then went to Brother Stock's house and practice taught him the Restoration so we could get some pointers and hopefully improve. He told us to add in some deep doctrine. So we smiled and said we'd try and then went to tea at the Dodd's house. After that, they dropped us off at Jane and Andy's house and we had a lesson with them and the Elliot's on the law of chastity. So that was an interesting lesson...

Wednesday we had district meeting and I am so excited! We found a bus stop closer to the chapel that the bus gets there nine minutes after district meeting ends. So if district meeting ends on time we get an extra hour in our area! The elders were making fun of us for getting our coats on before the closing prayer...but we made it back to Louth on time! We were going to have a meeting with Maria, but her kid was home sick, so she had to cancel. So we went in for lunch and then did a lot more on the new app, trying to make sure we get as much done as possible. We then did more knocking and street contacting until going to a lesson with Sam at the Elliot's house. He fell asleep, so he never showed up. But we had a good chat with the Elliot family and then went to teach Jackie. We retaught the Plan of Salvation and she shared some missionary experiences she's been having of correcting misconceptions of Mormons. Which is always good to hear a newly baptised member is sticking up for the church instead of letting it effect her testimony!

Thursday was miraculous! We started by doing service for Josephine and helped her clear out her she'd and then we went to visit a less active member and oh. My. Gosh. We had such a powerful lesson. She was crying (good tears) and invited to have us over for tea next week! So that was amazing! Then we did 12 weeks and went to the bus station to go to Hull. The Hull sisters forgot to leave the keys, so we were locked out for about two hours and it was freezing. But oh well. We got in and got warm and planned our exchanges. And then Sister Stevens cut my hair! It was great. She cut just enough off that nobody even notices it was cut and all the dead ends are gone! It was great!

Friday was Sister Stevens' birthday. So we had fun! We made pumpkin pie and a pumpkin cake. Which was just the pie batter with extra flour and baking soda and chocolate chips, and dinner in a pumpkin. Sister Stevens likes pumpkin. So we did all that before 8 o'clock and let it bake while we did studies. Then we ate it after weekly planning. Doing planning on the app was so confusing! But I think we figured it out ok enough and then after the birthday partying was over, we went out. Sister Rigby and I got a little lost going to a recent Converts house. But we found it and talked with her for a few minutes. Then we headed to do some knocking and pop by a former. She let us in, but she only speaks Swahili. So we had to use the google translate app. Which was useful, but not perfect. So we left and got tea and then taught a lesson at the Missionary House to a girl named Hayley who was baptised in July. Then we did Bus contacting until 9 and came in to spend the night again.

We woke up and got ready Saturday morning and then got on the bus to come home. We got back around noon and did lunch, companion study, andMormon.org time. Then we did a few hours of finding. Now Saturday was bonfire night. Let me explain bonfire night. So a long, long time ago, a guy, Guy Fawkes to be exact, tried to blow up Parliament. But he failed. And so now, they celebrate by having huge bonfires with a stuffed doll over it (supposed to represent Guy Fawkes) and have fireworks. So we were originally told we would stay in at 6. We'll we got a call on Thursday that since we had stayed in on Monday, we had to be out until 9 and it would be a normal proselyting day. But we had to stay off the streets...so we called the members who had invited us for tea that we had to turn down and invite ourselves over. Luckily they were cool with it, so we stayed over there for two hours (we had permission to stay longer than an hour) and then went in for 12 weeks. So yeah, crazy night.

Sunday was fast Sunday. I just love fast Sunday! We had a great day at church and then came in to have "lunch". We put some more people in the app and then went to visit Jackie. Her son was there, so it turned more into a "Finding conversation" than a lesson, but that's ok! Then we went to Josephine's and talked with her about Personal Progress and service. Then we went in for what we thought would be the end of the night. We had tea and then our district leader called that our numbers didn't go through from the app, so we needed to go sync it. But that meant we had to find wifi. So we had to call the same members we imposed on the night before and ask if we could impose again to use their wifi. They let us and we got the numbers in and then ran home because it was raining. Then we were in for transfer calls... I will be staying in Louth and Sister Manning is moving to Redcar. My new companion is coming from the MTC. So I will be training again this transfer! This should be good! Luckily this time I get to go to the trainer training. So I won't be completely making it up as I go along :D

My spiritual thought for the week comes from Elder Ballard's talk: To Whom Shall We Go? "Never abandon the great truths revealed through the Prophet Joseph Smith. Never stop reading, pondering, and applying the doctrine of Christ contained in the Book of Mormon." I think that's pretty self explanatory...

Much Love, ❤️

Sister Hope
