A Week to Serve :) -- June 5, 2017

Hello everybody!

So we had a great week here in Ashington! Seems like a long week...but I guess that's just because we got so much done :)

So on Monday, we had a branch Activity because it was a holiday over here too! Not sure which holiday...just a day off I guess? Well anyways, we went to Ingram Valley, which is a little place with big hills and a river. Very few people actually showed up...but we had a lot of fun! Then we rushed back to Ashington to finish our emails. Afterwards, we had a service Activity for a less active. She had a bunch of nettles she wanted pulled, so we did that for her and then headed off to have a lesson with Kayleigh and talked to her about the Holy Ghost. Then we had a lesson with a less active named Gwen about the Book of Mormon.

Tuesday we did some knocking in the morning and then had lunch and companionship study. Then we had a lesson with Sharon Wylie about the Title of Liberty and then did some more knocking and finding. We thought we'd go to the hospital because one of the Sisters in our Branch broke her wrist, but she wasn't out of surgery before visiting hours ended, so we wound up seeing a few less actives and then walked around the river some more to talk to a few people there.

Wednesday we had district meeting and then went straight to help another less active paint her bathroom. Apparently we did a good job because she wants us to come do her bedroom next week. Then we saw Winifred and Fred. Afterwards, we had tea with the Broadfoots and then Sister Broadfoots was going to join us for a lesson but he "wasn't in" even though his car was there and someone looked through the window...we'll try again later. Then we had companionship Study and went to see the Browns before 12 Weeks.

We saw Sharon Harrington on Thursday morning and then went to try by some people and do knocking in Cramlington.  Then we saw Eileen and talked to her about prophets. Then we went to see a few other people and set appointments to come back and headed off to have tea with the Redpaths. Then we came in for our studies.

Friday was so short, it almost didn't happen...so we moved our weekly planning to the afternoon because we had to take the car in to get it serviced which was going to take 3-4 hours...so in the morning we went to have a lesson with John and Jackie and their kids and then went to Newcastle to do our weekly planning in the lobby of the dealership. Well...we got free hot chocolate :) so that's a plus! Then we tried by a less active who talked our ears off and then had a lesson with Jennifer Thompson! I love her so much! She's so close to being reactivated! So close!

Saturday we walked to Gwen's because we offered her some old driving books since she wants to learn to drive. Then we walked back and had lunch. We tried by a bunch of formers but they'd all moved...so we went to see Heather and read from the Book of Mormon with her. Then we picked Eileen up and went to have a lesson with Bill about the Plan of Salvation. Then we came home for our studies

Sunday was pretty busy. We had church, of course :) which was great! We get to teach sharing time every fast Sunday, so that was cool! Then we saw John and his kids, but he asked us to come back later, so we did some knocking and then had companionship Study and tea. Then we had missionary coordination and went to teach John and his kids. It was so great! We basically taught the Restoration through Primary Songs. We had a lot of fun :) or at least I did! I think the boys did too...

So yeah, that's my week!

My Spiritual Thought for the week is from Conference! "In the eyes of God, there is no calling in the kingdom that is more important than another. Our service--whether great or small—refines our spirits, opens the windows of heaven, and releases God’s blessings not only upon those we serve but upon us as well. When we reach out to others, we can know with humble confidence that God acknowledges our service with approval and approbation. He smiles upon us as we offer these heartfelt acts of compassion, especially acts that are unseen and unnoticed by others."
-'The Greatest Among You' by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

I've been thinking a lot about service this week, especially since we've had so many service opportunities and more coming next week. It doesn't matter if the service is painting or sharing a smile or helping someone move. What matters is our heart and our intentions. God smiles when we serve His children:)
