Hello everybody! Is week
has been great and ended in such an amazing miracle...but you'll have to wait
until the end to find out about it ;)
Monday we had another
District PDay. This time we went mini golfing and saw a lighthouse! Which is
why I didn't get a big email out last time...the light house was added later in
the day and took up the time we had planned to email. And Elders, being Elders,
(no offence) said it was ok to not send out a big email. So I was a little
outnumbered. But that's ok! So we had a lesson with John, Shannon, and Jordan
at the chapel and then read the introduction to the Book of Mormon with them.
Then we went to see Kayleigh and had a lesson with her about family life. Then
we saw the Griffiths and read a Conference talk with them!
Tuesday we had a lesson
with a less active family and then had lunch. Then we had another lesson with
Jordan about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Then we went knocking for the rest of
the afternoon until studies and the Book of Mormon Class.
Wednesday we had a
special district meeting. The APs led it and we got called out to have
interviews with President and Sister Turvey. So it was a really good morning!
Then we had lunch and had a lesson with another less active and then did more
knocking before going to tea at the Broadfoots. Then we had a lesson with
another less active who has such great faith! It was so great to see!
Thursday we did yet more
knocking and then went to Blyth to talk to people on the beach before having a
joint lesson with two less actives in the area. Then we tried by a few
potentials who weren't in and had a tea appointment with the Redpaths before
going to visit another less active who is bed ridden. Man she talked so much, I
think we got about three words out!
Friday we had weekly
planning all morning and then went to the Relief Society Activity Lunch they
had and Jennifer Thompson actually came to it! We were so excited. Just another
step to get her to church :) then our lessons fell through, so we did some
knocking and finding in Morpeth before having tea and companionship study. Then
we tried by a part member family who let us in. So we wound up talking to the,
the rest of the night basically...
Saturday we spent the
entire day in Morpeth. We had two lessons with less actives in the morning and
then did finding the rest of the afternoon. So here's the miracle I promised :)
We were just trying by any people the list said were less actives and knocking
their street. So we were knocking this street and we got to the house the less
active apparently lived at and they invited us right in! This is the first time
I've ever been let in on my mission. And they weren't the less active we
thought they were, they were a couple who had just moved back to England about
six months previous looking for a church to go to! They said they didn't have
much time to listen to our message at that moment but they asked for the chapel
address and said they would come to the church on Sunday. So we gave them the
address and then left to try by a few more. Not much else happened the rest of
the evening. We had a tea appointment with the Tukes and then went home for
studies.
Sunday we had church,
and guess what!?!? The couple from Morpeth came! They really enjoyed it and
said they'd keep coming and we were welcome whenever we were in the area. The
biggest obstacle though will be the wife only speaks Spanish. Her husband is
English and more than happy to translate for her. They were really impressed
though that we made such a big effort to accommodate her. With the little
Spanish I do know and our iPads we were able to translate and help her
understand most of the meeting. So that was so great! Then we had our lunch and
studies and then went to try by the couple to answer any questions since they
had to leave early. The wife was taking a nap, so we didn't go in, but they're
just so nice! I'm so excited! Then we had a temple fireside for recent converts
and less actives to answer their questions about the temple and help them
prepare for it and then missionary coordination to finish the evening!
So yeah, that was my
week! It was pretty great!
My Spiritual Thought for
the week is from Conference: "Heavenly Father knows what you and I need
better than anyone else. As a result, He has developed a personal care package
suited to each one of us. It has many components. It includes His Son and the
Atonement, the Holy Ghost, commandments, scriptures, prayer, prophets,
apostles, parents, grandparents, local Church leaders, and many others--all to help
us return to live with Him someday."
-"His Daily Guiding
Hand" by M. Joseph Brough
I love you all and hope
you have a great coming week!
