Hello! Hello! Another
week in Ashington has come and gone!
So Monday we had a Zone
PDay. It was a little weird because it was all just sports so we didn't do
much, but it was still fun to hang out with the Zone and see some other
missionaries! Then we had a lesson with Kayleigh about the 12th Article of
Faith. Then our next few lessons cancelled, so we basically just walked around
and talked to random people until 9...
Tuesday we had a lesson
with Kurt in the morning about member missionary work and how he can work with
us on that. Then we had a lesson with the Turnbulls as well. Then we went in
for lunch and headed out again to have a lesson with John and Shannon. We read
1 Nephi 3 with them to talk about obedience and scripture study. Then we did a
bunch of knocking before heading up to try by the couple from last week. Only
the wife was in, so we got to practice our Spanish...that was interesting!
Wednesday we tried by a
less active, but they were just about to head out, so we set a return
appointment and did some knocking. Then we had lunch and 12 weeks before going
to see Elsie. We talked to her about the Plan of Salvation and it went pretty
well! Then we had another lesson with John and Shannon before seeing Sharon
Wylie and talking to her about the temple. Then we tried to do some more
knocking, but it was tea time, so nobody was really answering. So we wound up
just doing area booking in the car before our tea appointment. Then we tried to
have a lesson with Sam, but she was too tired, so we just went in to do
companionship study.
Thursday we had district
meeting...at 8:30...that wasn't too fun, but oh well. Then we tried by some
less actives and went home to plan for the day. Then we had lunch with the
Turnbulls before going to see a few other members and talking about member
missionary work. Then we decided since it was raining, we'd just park the car
and buy a bus pass. So we did. And bus contacted for a few hours. Holding true
to tradition, I got us lost. We thought the bus turned back around to go home...it
didn't. So oh well. We made it home!
Friday we had weekly
planning all morning before lunch and heading out to Lynemouth. We had a
potential flog us, so we walked around and found the creepiest, deserted park
ever...I'm kinda regretting not taking pictures. But then we had a first lesson
with this lady named Gemma! We taught her the Plan of Salvation and she said it
made sense and answered a lot of her questions! So we're seeing her again next week
:) then we stopped by a less active family who haven't been out for about ten
years. They asked what our plans were the rest of the day and we told them we
had a branch activity. And they asked if they could come! Well of course!!!! So
we left so they could get ready and we did companionship study at the chapel
and then helped set up. We had pies and peas (the mushy kind) and did a quiz.
It was great because we actually won because we made smart team joining
decisions :)
Saturday we did a ton of
finding pretty much everywhere...yeah not much to report. Then we had tea with
Pam and had a lesson with Jennifer Thompson!
Sunday was
amazing...JENNIFER THOMPSON CAME TO CHURCH!!!!!!!!! We were so excited! Yeah
that was the highlight of our day...she came for the first time in over forty
years! So great! Then we went out visiting less actives before coming in to
break our fast and going to missionary coordination. Then we went to help Pam
with her family history and came in for companionship study!
My Spiritual Thought for
the week is from district meeting "If a farmer didn't have faith his seeds
would grow, he wouldn't plant seeds. If a missionary doesn't have faith his
seeds of faith will bloom, they won't be planted" Member Missionary Work
is the same. If we don't have faith our friends will be interested, we won't
help them.
Love you all! Have a
great week!
Sister Hope
